several hours of endless clicking back and forth and maybe I'm getting better on this new program
spinning to stay calm - a test sample of each of the fibres bought at Fibrations
first - and most tempting, the raw llama
I hand carded it lightly with just a little tussah silk, it is light and so-o soft
all fibres - singles spun on the Turkish spindle and plied on the wheel
then on to the Lotus fibre
it is very smooth, with long fibres and slippery, spins quickly and easily so I ended up with a full 2 ply skein
I know the label is upside down - it would have taken another 15 minutes to go back and flip the picture
said I might get better - not faster - that comes later
cotton is much easier to spin when drawing the fibre from a puni (the roll of fibre seen in the picture below)
my Canadian source is out of stock and U.S. sources charge more for the postage than the cost of the fibre
so I am rolling my own - of course it takes more time but I have more time than money
and I love spinning cotton
finally the Pineapple fibre
it spins and feels very much like flax but has all sorts of neps/noils which I picked out as I spun
I like the texture, it feels strong and natural
if this sounds disorganized and a little crazy that's how I feel trying to get the hang of everything!
