To round off the blues of Vinta's Hello, Rain collection, here's a short review of Badya 1865 or Overcast Blue. The name is a nod to the year when Observatorio Meteorologico de Manila, now the present-day Manila Observatory was established. This is the most saturated blue ink in the collection and also the one with the most noticeable shimmer (gold). The base color is dark teal with a bit of reddish shading where the ink pools more. It's a little hard to photograph because in some lights, it has more green than blue, and in some lights it leans more on the blue side of the spectrum. As can be seen in the writing samples below, some shots look more greenish and some more blue.
The flow of this ink is moderate, sometimes it tends to feel watery, but I haven't had flow issues with it in the past few days that I've been using it. It's the most legible of the blues of this collection and would go really well with fine nibs too. I like it, it's a muted shade of blue that doesn't scream for attention, great for daily writing, and matches well with my favorite browns for my journal entries.
