Our Books to Binge On feature is pretty simple in its purpose. Every month, we put together a monthly new releases list of books that we're all looking forward to. These are the books that we can't wait to read and want everyone to add to their monthly binge-reading lists. Here are the books that we plan to binge on in April of 2022.
Say It's Forever (Redemption Hills #2) by A.L. Jackson
Jud Lawson found me stranded in the rain.
Broken down on the side of the road in a deserted neighborhood with my piece of crap car.
I wasn't looking for a hero, and definitely not one who looks like him.
An obscenely hot, mountain-of-a-man who screams danger.
But I have little choice other than climbing onto the back of his bike.
One look at Salem Aguilar, and I'm hooked.
The girl is devastation wrapped in a black, seductive bow.
A knockout.
A dream.
Turns out, she needs a job, and I need the help.
Now I have a vixen strutting around my shop, and I'm the fool who's itching to reach out and take what he can't have.
But neither of us can ignore the burning attraction.
The fire that leads to a kiss.
A kiss that has us falling into my bed.
The connection that has me wanting the one thing I'd never thought I could have again.
Because monsters like me don't deserve love.
Only Salem has a secret, too.
She's been running for years, and her past just caught up to us...
Casee: Omgoddess, you guys. I am so excited for this book!
Shadow Fire (Shadow Riders #7) by Christine Feehan
Journey deeper into the world of Chicago's most dangerous, alluring crime family in this incendiary installment of the Shadow Riders series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.
Shadow Rider Elie Archambault has been called many things: domineering, brash, loyal, but most of all fast. And there's nothing faster than choosing to marry a woman you've never met. All he has is a signed contract and a list of his new bride's expectations for their arranged marriage. He's not expecting love or some happy ever after, just a partner that knows exactly what she signed up for. He'll be faithful because he's a man of honor, but she'll never have his heart....
Elie knows who he is. A privileged member of the Archambault family. A skilled rider and fighter. A man who's always had things easy for all the wrong reasons. He's made his mistakes and lost his chance at real, true passion with his other half thanks to his own careless arrogance. Now he just wants to do his duty as a Shadow Rider and leave the past behind.
But Elie has no idea that his choice is about to spark a blaze that will burn all his carefully laid plans to the ground....
Casee: Elie has been a very interesting character up until now. I'm pretty sure this is an enemies-to-lovers book which is one of my faves.
Falling Embers (Tattered & Torn #2) by Catherine Cowles
I've loved Calder Cruz from the moment he taught me how to fly. Racing down a mountain and giving me the release I so desperately needed. My understanding. My safe space.
Hadley has fought for a life of her own ever since her sister's kidnapping. When she was drowning in expectations and family pressures, Calder was always the one who understood her.
Until one night changed it all. From best friends to strangers in a single breath.
She's like a fire that lives inside me. Even when I thought it was all burned out, there were still embers that lived in my bones.
Calder knows what it's like to almost lose the people he loves most. He'll never make that kind of mistake again. Working at the fire station and taking care of his daughters are the only things he needs.
All it takes is a single moment to make him realize how wrong he is. A split second of coming close to losing the woman he has always loved.
But as long-buried embers light anew, there are those who lurk in the shadows. And they'll do whatever it takes to extinguish that flame for good…
Casee: I haven't started this series yet, but I plan to this month.
Lover Arisen (Black Dagger Brotherhood #20) by J.R. Ward
Possessed by the demon Devina, Balthazar is once again on the hunt for the Book of Spells — and fighting an undeniable attraction to a woman. As a thief, he has stolen a lot of things…but he never thought his heart would be taken by another. Especially not a human.
As a homicide detective, Erika Saunders knows there is something otherworldly going on in Caldwell, New York. Mutilated bodies that cannot be explained are all over her case list — and then there are her nightmares in which she's hunted by shadows and captivated by a mysterious man who is both a suspect and a savior.
When Devina's wish for true love is finally granted, Balthazar and Erika unwittingly become the gateway for the rebirth of an old enemy of the Brothers. Will the very thing that brings them together lead to the ultimate destruction of the Brotherhood? Or will they have to lose everything in order to save the race's most sacred defenders?
Casee: Although I'm a couple of books behind, I think this book will close one of the chapters of the BDB. Hopefully.
The Damning Stone (Tales From Verania #5) by T.J. Klune
A year has passed since the Dark Wizard Myrin attempted to take control of the Kingdom of Verania. Though the scars of the final battle remain, Veranians have come together in unity in order to rebuild. Good King Anthony sits on the throne once more, with Morgan of Shadows at his side.
However, a king is not immortal. One day, Anthony will step down, paving the way for his son, Grand Prince Justin, to assume the throne.
And Justin wants anything but.
Unfortunately for him, he finds himself with bigger things to worry about than just becoming the ruler of a country. At the celebration of the might of Verania and its people, a delegation arrives, led by a man who calls himself a magician. This man represents the King of Yennbridge, who has come to claim what was promised to him years before: the hand of the firstborn son of the King and Queen of Verania.
With his ridiculous friends at his side—Sam, Ryan, Kevin, Gary and Tiggy—Justin sets out to make the visiting king's life a living hell. Which, of course, backfires spectacularly, and when the dust settles, Justin finds his friends changed in ways he can't expect, leaving him standing alone.
Except he's not as alone as he thinks, given the King of Yennbridge will do anything to prove he's worthy of the frozen heart of the Ice Prince.
Prince Justin has finally met his match.
Let the games begin.
Holly: I've only read one book by Klune in the past, but this series has been in my TBR pile for awhile. I plan to dig it out soon.
The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa
Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple's big day. It's an easy gig... until she stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn't meant to be. What's a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course. And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn't make the biggest mistake of his life.
Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out. He was about to check off "start a family" and on track to "make partner" when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke. Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. Oops.
Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend. Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean's wedding, so she agrees to play along. Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean's colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny. Their entire romance is a sham... there's no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right?
Holly: I am such a sucker for the fake-relationship trope. I can't wait to read this one.
Girls of Flight City by Lorraine Heath
Inspired by true events, a breathtaking WWII historical novel about the brave American women who trained the British Royal Air Force, by New York Times bestselling author Lorraine Heath.
1941. A talented flier, Jessie Lovelace yearns for a career in aviation. When the civilian flight school in her small Texas town begins to clandestinely train British pilots for the RAF, she fights to become an instructor. But the task isn't without its perils of near-misses and death. Faced with the weight of her responsibilities, she finds solace with a British officer who knows firsthand the heavy price paid in war . . . until he returns to the battles he never truly left behind.
Rhonda Monroe might not be skilled in the air but can give a trainee a wild ride in a flight simulator. Fearing little, she dares to jeopardize everything for a forbidden relationship with a charismatic airman...
Innocent and fun-loving Kitty Lovelace, Jessie's younger sister, adores dancing with these charming newcomers, realizing too late the risks they pose to her heart.
As the war intensifies and America becomes involved, the Girls of Flight City do their part to bring a victorious end to the conflict, pouring all their energy into preparing the young cadets to take to the skies and defeat the dangers that await. And lives from both sides of the Atlantic will be forever changed by love and loss...
Holly: I am so here for this book. I love Heath anyway, but the premise would have hooked me even if she were an unknown.
