Just one month ago, I wrote about my return to the Whiteley Center at Friday Harbor Labs to prepare for the launch of my new book, Writer in a Life VestThanks to the support of friends, family, Homebound PublicationsLopez Bookshop, and Lopez Island Library, this essay collection is now afloat!

Releasing a book calls for ceremony and celebrations just as when a boat sets sail—and maybe especially when a ferry vessel plays a prominent role in said book. So, last week, readers had books signed, friends and family gathered (in person and virtually) to hear excerpts, and sparkling beverages appeared for toasts.

If you weren't able to join the send-off (or even if you did), here are some images from the festivities.

Lopez Bookshop knows how to send books into the world.

For those who couldn't attend the debut of the book at Lopez Island Library, you can watch and listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0Gmw5Q1o1M.

There are a number of events coming up if you'd like to celebrate and discuss the book. I'd love it if you could join me.  Saturday, April 2, I'll be reading at Browsers Bookshop in Olympia, WA.

I'm deeply grateful for the "village" that labored with me nearly four years to get to this unveiling of Writer in a Life Vest.
