As always, the food was outstanding. Not so much for lunch, but they do have a rare selection of Bourbon and Scotch in the Bourbon Library which features 150 bottles personally selected by Chef Ben. However, it was a SOUP week for us, and this place offers so much more than soup. I had read about their wood-grilled Caesar salad (really? grilled lettuce?) and wanted to try it, but I love roasted beet salad which looked delicious, it was a hard decision. But we came for SOUP so I had to have soup, and the "Simple Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Crouton" was over the top. The "crouton" was a half grilled cheese sandwich - just perfect to dunk in the creamy and best tomato soup I have had. Others enjoyed Brunswick stew and yucca fries, cakes and an ice cream/brioche/chocolate sauce concoction which I'm told was divine. The atmosphere was beautiful looking out over the palm trees and water, and all of us had a wonderful time talking, eating and sketching. We never felt rushed. Thank you, Valley Smoke. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
