The blurb for this exhibition includes "The beautiful and moving works on display include wood carvings, contemporary photography, paintings on bark and canvas, printmaking, bronze-casting, glass, ceramics, and weaving. Created by some of Australia's best-known contemporary artists, these works reflect on themes of connection, belonging and journeys." Australian Parliament House has a large richly diverse collection of art. The upstairs gallery has a program or exhibitions and this latest one is of the usual high quality.
The image I have included is one of the thirty in the exhibition. The artist Leonard Andy has several responsibilities among his people in the Mission Beach area. This work Djiru Gunduy is one of his works that focuses on the Cassowary and its management on his country.
The exhibition dates are 16 December 2023 to 21 April 2024
