Just a quick note to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I want you to know that I appreciate you stopping by and reading my blog and commenting.
This has been a tough year for a lot of us, and I thank you for taking time out of your life to see what I'm up to. Unfortunately, this year I've done less than I have for a long time. With my sis Mari dying, Dave being so sick, and the challenging bathroom renovation I've felt at times that I just want to back up a dump truck to my studio and push all of my art stuff in it! I've felt this way before, but not to this extent.
I mentioned our Alabama trip we took and is the basis of my fabric book I'm working on, but I didn't tell you the whole story. My sister always regretted how she treated her first husband, Steve. She told me she hoped before she died she could tell him how sorry she was for any pain she caused him. She also hoped that he was happy in his current marriage and that's all she wanted for him. After she died I felt it was my duty to tell him how she felt, but I also wanted to tell him how important he was to me back then. They divorced in 1982. I wrote him a letter giving him her message. I had not listed my email or phone number since I didn't want him to feel he had to respond. Shortly after he received it, he emailed me wanting to talk. While talking his wife Sharon got on the line, and the rest is history. Dave and I drove down to their home in Alabama in October and had a wonderful 3 days.
Sharon says we're family now. So in addition to being so thankful for all of you, I'm thankful for our new family. We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with them next week.
During this time of so much hate and turmoil in the world, tell someone you love them, that they care, that they are important. Contact someone you've been thinking about calling or writing, and just do it. Maybe you'll get lucky like I did.
Been making progress on the fabric book, and will show it to you soon. Again, Happy Thanksgiving!
