Not mine, sadly, but I watched this wonderful story unfold on Reddit. I am so happy for the person who found this. She seems so nice. What an absolutely stunning find. And that it went to someone who could never have afforded it is even more fantastic. She wears it frequently which is great.
If this ever happened to me (unlikely) I would give some money back to the thrift store and support it for the rest of my life with donations. But I would keep the item to wear, not return it to the shop. I would be so fabulous every single day! I have previously seen (with a handbag the store did not realise was designer) a shop demand the item back. Big charities are now running their organisations like businesses, so I am not very sympathetic to them anymore when this happens.
...and when it went onto Antiques Roadshow, it was valued at up to $60,000
The whole story unfolded in one of my favourite subreddits, Thriftstorehauls, where people share the bargains and beauties they have found while thrifting. Tomorrows-Forecast frequently shares her jewellery and other finds, and is always super-friendly, responsive, and kind. I am so happy for her amazing luck!
