These news items were the talk of the town on August 5, 1938

Friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Nugent of Oak Road, who will move to Washington, D. C. this week, gave them a farewell party on Monday evening. Refreshments were served, and games and dancing were enjoyed by the many friends and neighbors who attended. A gift of money was given to Mr. and Mrs. Nugent, as a token of remembrance of their good friends in Norwood, both in business and social circles. An invitation was extended to all to visit their home in Washington.

Harvey Nutter of Elm Street underwent an appendix operation Tuesday at the Norwood Hospital.

Herbert Carlson, who has been visiting with the Lindblom family on Oak Road, returned to his West Palm Beach, Florida home, on Wednesday.

Mrs. Anthony DeRoma of Nichols Street is recuperating at the Norwood Hospital following an appendectomy.

Miss Agnes Edmund of Monroe Street has returned home from the Norwood Hospital where she underwent an appendectomy.

Some fifty members of the Norwood Grange enjoyed the beach party at Duxbury last Sunday, making the trip in private cars, cooking their dinners, and bathing.

The regular meeting of Loyal Scoble Lodge will be held this Tuesday evening in Eagles' Hall, Day Street. As this is to be the only meeting for the month, it is expected that all members who can attend will be present.
