On Saturday, August 4, the Norwood Colonial Boys journeyed to the annual convention of the Connecticut State Fifers and Drummers Association in Bristol, Conn. This is one of the biggest of the year, drawing 61 corps from Mass., Rhode Island, Conn., New York, and New Jersey.

The Colonial Boys, representing the Bay State, came In second in the junior ancient class, losing to St Benedict's, from the Bronx, N Y.

Although they took second place as a corps, the individuals of the Corps took home to Norwood many Connecticut titles. In the fife contest, two Colonial fifers narrowed the competition from 7 contestants to battling it out between themselves with Jack Lydon winning first honors and Johnny O'Malley right at his heels in second place, both boys won beautiful medals for their successful efforts.

Annual Convention at Westfield, they will then go to the Rhode Island Annual Convention where they will try to win—for the 2nd year in a row— the coveted "Pappas Trophy" The latter is awarded each year to any corps In the association, whether they are Bugle and Drum or Fife and Drum, whether Modern or Ancient, which holds the highest aggregate score of the year To date the Norwood Colonial Boys are ahead in the scoring.
