Norwood Central Station

The directors of the New England R.R. were in Norwood Monday, in company with E. J. Shattuck, G. F. Willett, and C. T. Wheelock, inspecting the location for depots.

We understand that Messrs. Shattuck and Willett desire to have the Central station moved a few rods further west and Norwood station located at the foot of Nahatan Street, instead of consolidating the two at the foot of Day Street, as already ordered by the railroad commissioners. We fail to see any advantage in this new idea over the present locations, and it will receive a pretty hard kick from the residents at the northern and eastern ends of the town.

We understand that the present decree of the commissioners is settled, and we sincerely hope it is. If the question is ever opened again it will be a long time before we get any depot, and the disagreement in the two ends of the town will provoke another fight which may not be easily settled.

Let us have the decree of the commissioners enforced and have a decent central station at Day Street as planned.

The town after a long and bitter fight, has settled on this solution, and now let us have it before we get into another squabble, and thus give the railroad another chance for extended delays before they do anything. It is high time we had a decent depot and a central place from which to catch express trains to Boston.
