Sanat Initiative in Karachi hosts "Emergence", an exhibition showcasing the works of the artist couple Ammama Malik and Jibran Shahid from June 14th till 23rd. The Islamabad based couple will be displaying a collection of 20 artworks, exploring diverse themes of life's narratives in canvases celebrating the human form and its harmonious relationship with nature. While Jibran's figures are often found in a dream-like state, Ammama's artworks are immersed in playful concealment and revelations.
"As we find ourselves immersed in a world of virtual reality and automation, we are constantly challenged to adapt and evolve. Emergence signifies this metamorphosis from being to becoming on my terms. For me art serves as an escape from this blind race, where I work towards my own growth, to emerge as a more conscious being, and to find my sacred place in this cosmos," shares Jibran.
Embracing Life by Ammama Malik
Though the couple have exhibited extensively in the past, this is their first joint art display. "We decided on exhibiting together because although our styles are different, our passion for depicting the human anatomy in its most natural and pure form is shared collectively. Our subjects are bare as they share their truths with the audience," adds Ammama.
