I raced back inside to grab my camera , back out again ...great it's still there! I raised the camera and off it took to the air, wings widespread, sailing effortlessly away from my viewfinder. I was a tad disappointed! Later that afternoon I went out for something else, glanced up and thought I could see it again...but surely it was too big ...it must be one of the goats. Expecting nothing I ran in , grabbed the camera, back out and snapped a few. It was still hard to tell because it was further away than the morning . I'd taken the photo in Raw so had lots of resolution to play with and when I dumped it on my laptop and cropped it there it was...a juvenile wedge tailed eagle surveying it's new territory. I had forgotten how large these eagles are when they're on the ground. The golden head, chest and wing feathers of the juvenile really helped it stand out against the greenery on the hillside which is probably why I noticed it so easily. I'm hoping it's taken up residence and I'll get to see this magnificent bird more often. I used Daniel Green watercolours for this postcard. I prefer tubes to pans as they allow me to mix different viscosity and intensity washes. Still working on my watercolour skills but am liking these little bird postcards. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
