In just under a month there will be an amazing fabric sale combining the fabric stashes of two wonderful quilters, Judi Simon-Bouton of Vermont and Lorrie Sluzenski of Connecticut, all to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Vermont and the host site for the sale, The Bugbee Senior Center. This sale is being organized by their families and friends because we know they would want others to create extraordinary quilts, clothing, and costumes with the textiles they loved.
Please mark your calendars:

10 am - 4 pm.
Bugbee Senior Center

We have thousands of yards of high quality quilting cotton such as: glorious batiks, luxurious cottons in Asian print motifs with sparkly metallic highlights, colorful floral prints and geometrics in a vibrant array of colors, fabrics by well-known designers, oversized florals and prints guaranteed to add pizzazz to every quilt, fun novelty fabrics for adults as well as for children, and many unique panels.
Just part of the available fabric, seen her in the midst of sorting.
But this sale is not just quilting cottons. It also includes unusual pieces of colorful fiesta fabric, tulle and satin for Halloween costumes, as well as sequined fabric in purple and ruby red, lots of fleece (including some Minky), soft flannels for kids and adults, and fabric suitable for clothing such as slinky yards of rayon to make pants, jackets and tops. There's even wool for clothing and rug hooking.
We are selling all fabrics by the pound. And yes, we know this is different but we don't have the space to cut fabric to order. Most of the pieces in the collection are two or more yards.
There are 2.8 yards of fabric in a pound of quilting cotton. We are selling a pound of fabric for $10. That works out to $3.57 a yard. Nowadays, even fabric on sale is twice that price. A regular paper grocery bag filled level to the top holds 14 yards of fabric, just to give you an idea.
There are also sewing and quilting books, tools such as rulers and mats and irons, dress patterns, and batting. And on top of all that there are free gifts! Every paying customer will receive a bag of 10–12 smaller pieces of fabric, each sized from a quarter to a half yard. We have also put together stacks of precut squares in various sizes and strips and yards of muslin that are free to a good home.
So please mark your calendars. The Bugbee Senior Center is THE place to be the first Sunday of October and is a wonderful chance to add some fabulous fabrics to your collection!
