The Sun enters Libra I, called The Blindfold and the Sword, at the moment of the Autumnal Equinox on 22 September 2024, which is 8:44 am EDT. He'll pass through the first ten degrees of Libra in 10 days, 4 hours, and 33 minutes, arriving at Libra II on 2 October 2024 at 1:17 pm EDT. Austin Coppock developed the naming system I use, but T. Susan Chang calls this decan Blind Equilibrium, since it's associated with the 2 of Swords in the Waite-Smith Tarot deck — which shows a blindfolded woman on the wharf or corniche at harbor-side, holding two swords crossed over her chest; she faces the card-holder directly. Initiatory or judicial, the image speaks openly of danger and risk to both the viewer and the hoodwinked. Justice is not fair to any one individual, but seeks to make justice for all, which often manifests in us as discontent.
The Moon rules Libra I, suggesting that justice is indeed a muti-varied and mutable thing, taking different shapes in different circumstances — whether of time or place. As a result, justice in some cases can look quite different than in others. In matters of criminal law, it matters whether the perpetrator is punished. Accordingly, there is no plaintiff: instead, the government brings the case against the plaintiff as "The People". The government has to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt in order to impose punishment. In a civil case, a citizen or resident of a given jurisdiction brings a complaint against another; here, a different standard of truth, called "preponderance of the evidence," holds sway. In Eastern Europe in the former Warsaw Pact countries, a process called Lustration can be used to impeach prosecutors, judges, and other court officials from particular cases or courts; in the US, judges and prosecutors with financial ties to specific cases are supposed to recuse themselves from participation; lawyers who sign paperwork they haven't read or intermingle their clients' money with their own, or commit other crimes against their clients' interests, can be disbarred. People who have never committed a crime before may be recommended to alternative sentencing — and only a very small number of cases (in the US, at least), wind up in a jury trial.
A lawyer of my acquaintance says "so many people think of a trial as a terrible inconvenience and a form of punishment in and of itself. They whine and moan and shout and yell about how unfair it is. But the truth is that a trial is the method by which we decide if a crime was committed. It is not in itself supposed to be a punitive thing — it is the testing and weighing of evidence to determine whether punishment is warranted. And the more serious the crime the defendant stands accused of... the more people have to weigh in, including a citizen jury of your peers. And the government is not supposed to get a free pass on that: boom, you're guilty because we say you are."
But it's the Moon who rules this decan with the symbols of justice, the blindfold and the sword. And as a result, there are many pathways and possibilities by which justice is created... or avoided. There are many ways that the trial court is tilted like a pinball machine, to give advantage to one side or another. And the Moon sees it all, and plays this ongoing game of role-play and creative, shared imagination — because deciding who is innocent and who is guilty in a trial court, or even in a plea bargain agreed to in a judge's chambers, is a lot less expensive than a society that runs on honor-killings and vengeance. And a lot less bloody.
That has not always been so. The Greeks honored the Erinyes at this time of year — worship is a strong word for the triad of monstrous, snake-haired gorgons who pursued blood-vengeances as the instrument of the gods's wrath. Depicted in the new Netflix show KAOS (starring Jeff Goldblum as the god Zeus) as a trio of butch lesbian motorcyclists who mentally torment their prey for months or years, they were often called the Eumenides— the Kindly Ones — in the same tone of voice as some Irish traditionalists might call the faeries "the Good Neighbors." My wife and I, as modern Americans, would sometimes refer to the house up the street with the half-dozen Confederate flags flying on the back porch as "Good ol' Mister Hogg" after a particularly noxious, venal and corrupt character on the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard. Yes... the Greeks spent a lot of time doing their level best neither to offend nor draw the attention of the Kindly Ones... or to give them their more-well-known epithet, the Furies.
But who did the Furies punish, and why? For the Greeks, the three sisters (Alekto or "endless anger', Megaera or 'jealous rage', and Tisiphone or 'vengeful destruction'), were responsible for punishing offenses that crossed very particular lines: all the transgressions of one side of the Five Relations against the other. Three occurred when the lesser harmed the greater: the slave harmed the master, the child harmed the parent, or the youth harmed the elder. Two could go both ways: either the guest or host betrayed hospitality; or citizen betrayed his city, or the city government refused a legitimate petitioner.
It's a mark of our own society that we now understand that ALL the Five Relations are mutual and equally weighted in matters of justice (especially now that we recognize that Greco-Roman and antebellum American master-slave relationships are unjust on their face and can identify a different sort of relationship between employee and employer). We see stories often that prove to us that indeed, the parent can injure the child, the elder can abuse the youth, and the employer can cause grief to the employee — but these are unjust acts, and they deserve redress... but so are abusive relationships that run in the other directions. If only, we can request, the Furies stirred our consciences more particularly, so that fewer people felt tormented by these inequalities in our modern Five Relations, and worked to resolve them instead!
The Dodeks or twelfth-parts of Libra I are Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn. Together they point to the role of the prosecutor in managing a complex criminal case. Libra represents the careful balancing of the evidence available, and determining if a crime has been committed in such a way that warrants trial. Scorpio represents bringing that evidence before a Grand Jury in secret for preliminary hearings, and to weigh the emotional and logical impact of the evidence against a mildly skeptical audience. Sagittarius is the swift release of the information before a petit jury in the confines of a formally convened courtroom; while Capricorn is the deliberate intellectual self control of the trial lawyer presenting the allowable information in the careful rules-bound environment of the court.
Planetary Archetypes
If we see this chart as courtroom in which a disturbance in the Five Relations is on trial, with the Furies waiting at Libra I to see how it all plays out... then let's see what roles each planet is playing in this lawyerly drama...
The Sun, in Libra I's very first degree, is acting here as the prosecutor, outraged for The People that a crime has been committed, and standing with the agents of justice at his back. In a masculine sign and a masculine house, he's nonetheless in a Venus-ruled sign and a feminine-coded decan. Whether he is or not, he think of himself as a 'good guy' that women feel safe with... especially since he's standing up in court for their rights and protection.
Some distance behind him, though, sits Venus — in the audience rather than before the bar and actively involved in the matter before the court. Maybe she's the Sun's paralegal assistant, maybe his girlfriend. She's dressed in a pretty manly suit, and taking serious notes on the progress of the case... but is she keeping track of wins and losses for her boss or boyfriend... or for her own sake, to know what kind of guy he really is?? Her presence as the ruler of the ascendant sign makes her considerably more powerful in this chart than her location in the courtroom would suggest.
In the back of the room, at home in this position by the public door, sits Pluto — his mind is on something else today, and his attention periodically wavers. But he's in a place where the judge has a clear view of him, and of his moods. Is he the bag man who brings the bribe from the local organized-crime syndicate? Or the head of the syndicate himself?? One way or another, this case is going to hinge a lot on how well, or poorly, the judge reads his mood... and how closely Pluto attends to the course of the proceedings. Right now, he's not attending at all.
Two working-class gents sit in the audience too — men old enough that there's a touch of femininity about them: better haircuts, nicer clothes for a court day, trimmed nails, maybe a touch of cologne on them. Saturn is the more reluctant witness in today's proceedings, and he spends more time looking at Pluto than at the judge or prosecutor — he's aware he's trapped: he can't not testify, but he knows there will be consequences for himself if he does. Neptune is much more eager, bouncing in his seat with excitement — and eager to do both Saturn and Pluto dirty if he has a chance. has he thought through the consequences of his actions? Probably not, and not enough.
Uranus sits as the defendant, at the defendant's desk, much more interested in the audience than the proceedings in court. I he's got some explosive next-steps on his mind, assuming that the person he's looking for in the audience ever gives him the high-sign to go ahead. Right now, he's trying to be a good boy for the judge, but he's got eyes swiveling this way and that as he tries to follow what's going on both in public... and behind him in the audience.
The Moon is the defendant's lawyer, currently questioning Jupiter on the witness stand. Jupiter is on cross-examination here, and the Moon is eventually going to get him to admit to damaging testimony, as they finally see eye-to-eye on what this trial is really about. However, she's playing a serious game of catch-up here; this previous week's partial eclipse has put her in a darkened mood about the case's outcome. Unlike the other witnesses waiting for their turn, Jupiter's attention is fully on what's going on in court; if Pluto is giving him warning signs or signals, he can't see them. On the other hand, he's got a certain luckiness and charm that's playing well with the jury. He may be in the doghouse, but it's not the outhouse, and he's going to come out of this looking good.
Mars is in the judge's seat, with all eyes on him. He's relatively new to the bench, and it's becoming clear to him that his first few cases — all related to murder and violence — did not prepare him for the current questions before the court. Every so often, he sneaks in a recess just so he can go back to his chambers and consult the judge's manual, or consult with a colleague. He's way out of his league and he knows it —and as a result, neither prosecutor nor defendant's lawyer is getting good results from him. Mars is angry, but desperate not to show it.
The court reporter here is Mercury, sitting off to one side where they can keep an eye on prosecutor, defendant, judge, and jury, and note down everything that happens. They're tired and sleepy, and Mars has been pulling them aside every so often to ask about how he's doing. It's taking everything Mercury has to avoid answering, "if you didn't think you could do this, why did you accept the appointment to the job??" Next week or in a little while, Mercury is going to let him have it... but the reality is that they should have done it a week ago, when it might have mattered. Mercury is pretty sure this case is going to get appealed or result in a mistrial due to Mars' incompetence.
House Meanings
The first house of self and self-presentation, is Libra, ruled by present Venus and containing the Sun and the South Node, promising that this week, we're on the rough end of the Five Relations (child-parent, youth-elder, guest-host, householder-city, employee-employer). I wonder if we should add a Sixth, which would be spouse-to-spouse. Yeah, there too: if you're reading this column, you're going to be all too aware this week of the ways in which you're giving your spouse all that they want, and not getting much in return. Remember that there's always balance, though, and that what feels imbalanced now is likely to feel more balanced or more on your side at some point in the future.
The second house of wealth and possessions is Scorpio, ruled by Mars from the trine. There's unfavorable situations that negatively affect your income and resources right now. It's likely to work out eventually, but make sure that you're directing the appropriate amount of ambition and fervor toward the workplace that generates most of your income. With Mars in Cancer, it's likely to be a time of anxiety, but not necessarily actual action against you.
The third house of siblings and extended family (and neighbors) is Sagittarius, ruled by opposing Jupiter. Lots of learning, obsession over details, and unexpected travel for family business are possibly in your future. Be alert to what you need to study in order to keep your familial relationships well-managed; but be prepared to cut off or stop what isn't working.
The fourth house of home and immediate family is Capricorn, ruled by Saturn from the sextile but containing Pluto and the Imum Coeli. The daily grind of work is likely to feel like both a luxury and a trap — it's nice to have a paycheck and access to wealth, but does the work attached to it have to feel like such a slog? Big decisions about your residence require putting on your crown, sitting on the throne, and deciding.
The fifth house of children, pleasures, and hobbies is Aquarius, ruled by inconjunct Saturn but supported by Jupiter from the trine (though the other triplicity ruler is Mercury, also inconjunct). Time to work on your personal projects, or spend time with your kids when they're not cranky, is best found in the early part of the day; set your alarm, make a big mug of coffee, and go to sleep earlier — your fancy ballgown is not going to get finished by pulling an all-nighter; get a good night's sleep and wake up an hour and a half earlier to put in 45 minutes on it while you're fresh.
The sixth house of daily labors and patterns, employees, and minor illnesses is Pisces, ruled by Jupiter from the square, and home to Saturn and Neptune, both retrograde. Jupiter wants you to execute on detail oriented projects that promote your long-term learning and afford opportunities for travel; while Saturn says "you're stuck here, better stay put for now," and Neptune invites wild and unsupported nostalgia, as though things were much better in the past than they are now. Be cautious about getting locked into visions of the future; but don't wear rose-colored glasses when examining the past, either.
The seventh house of principal relationships (with spouses, significant others, rivals and business partners), is Aries — ruled by Mars from the square, and 'supported' by the Sun from opposition and an inconjunct Saturn. Only Jupiter Jupiter from the sextile offers much solace. It's likely that you see very clearly the ways in which your most important peers are getting more than they should, and are hungry for even more than you can give — and the only thing you can do is "work harder and smarter so you earn more money". You can provide some ongoing education to your partners, but there's an important reminder from Mark Twain: "You can't make a man understand something, if his salary depends on not understanding it." Some of your voiced concerns are going to fall on uncomprehending ears.
The eighth house of tedious obligations is Taurus ruled by inconjunct Venus, and receives support only from sextile Mars, while Uranus retrograde requires an ongoing and tedious review that requires a substantive amount of patience and grace — even though you want to explode with frustration. Whatever problems you're currently wrestling with, it requires daily effort to make them go away... but also a disciplined calm: don't get angry. Breathe often.
the ninth house of learning and travel is ruled by squaring Mercury, but contains the Moon, Jupiter, and the Lot of Fortune. The Moon is in the fifth mansion, favoring relationships with spouses while traveling, but promising contention between friends in groups on outings. Remember not to complain about your spouse or lover to your friends... and close ranks as a household when trouble arises between a significant other and your acquaintances, nor allow someone to wedge themselves between you. At the same time, be laughing and generous — no good will come from picking fights.
The tenth house of career, employment, reputation and promotions is Cancer, ruled by the inconjunct moon but receiving support from present Mars and Venus from the square. Though Mars, representing ambition and personal drive, is in detriment in Cancer — he still is able to set goals, and work toward them through a sea of emotional turbulence. You too may find that there's advantage in keeping your tears and temper tantrums private and personal, and setting up rituals at home for personal cleanliness, purification, and prayer, from all the emotional swell, surf and froth in your workplace. Be pretty, and pretty disciplined, and armored up, in your workplace — but have a lovely bubble bath or a shower to wash off the turbulence when you get home.
The eleventh house of friends and acquaintances is Leo, ruled by the Sun from the sextile and supported by Jupiter from the sextile as well. You benefit from showing mercy and kindness to your friends, even as you make conscious and deliberate decisions in the face of their indecisiveness. At the same time, express balanced opinions to them — identify where they're being unjust, unfair, or unnecessarily cruel; but be honest in pointing out their many good qualities and favorable aspects. To modify an ancient idea, "If you must say something mean to someone, reframe it as an unexpected and uncharacteristic departure from their usual norms."
The twelfth house of personal obstacles, chronic illness, and turning dreams into action, is Virgo ruled by present Mercury, and supported by Mars from the sextile and the Moon from the square. You benefit from unearthing old ideas and reframing them in new terms; if you're self-employed, it's a good time to dust off that old business plan you made when you first started, and update it to the kind of business life you're leading now. You likely have ongoing anxieties about the things you're not doing or the places you're not going; and you may feel like you just have to buckle down at work at things will work out. Mercury says otherwise — a clear-eyed analysis of your real situation is the only way to put the anxieties and workaholism to rest, and find real solutions to your problems. You won't get a better week to do this, this year — do it now.
Horoscopes by Rising Sign
Decan I of any sign (usually covering the 21st of the month to the first of the following month) is free to all visitors; Decan II is only available to Patreon and Ko-Fi.com subscribers; and Decan III is available to Patreon, Ko-Fi, and MailChimp subscribers.
Libra: In large measure, the whole column is a detailed look at your astrological fortunes over the coming ten days. In public, be bright-eyed and positive even when people bring you grief (especially if it's your spouse or significant other causing it); reserve some private time for rituals of health, beauty, glamour, and cleanliness that are yours alone. Make some decisive financial decisions about home and family that will bring you peace of mind: whether new curtains or hiring a handyman to clean the gutters, make the choices. There's an angry, loud person at work that's going to give you grief, but they have little power to affect your career trajectory. Keep plugging away patiently at the drastic and explosive problem that's got you worried; things will work out, but you can't lose your temper. Spend some time doing an accurate calculation of your net worth and current financial picture.
Scorpio: It may feel "unmanly" or inappropriate in some ways to learn the soft skills that are currently staring you in the face: whether sewing or counseling someone through a grieving process, calligraphy or personal coaching, recognize that this is a skill you need to learn and it will benefit you. An explosive problem looms in your relationship based on past behaviors; you can only solve this through patient conversation, so keep touching the problem for a little bit and then putting it down for a while. Some private time for personal reflection proves valuable, but you also need a good friend's private counsel. A family member tries to assert dominance and sovereignty. Your hobbies aren't helping you much right now, but they're also where you find personal satisfaction: keep working on them.
Sagittarius: Your friends and allies need to hear your ideas about justice and responsibility, and virtue — but you may feel like you're spinning your wheels when it comes to giving advice about love, sex and relationships because these may not be going so well for you right now. With your spouse, though, remember to learn together, and close ranks against those who would divide you. There's a challenging issue with bureaucracies that is taking considerable time and energy; give it its appropriate due. You're not getting to spend as much time on hobbies and personally fulfilling activities you like, to a mix of home and family stuff — try to find enthusiasm for the activities you ARE doing, though, and don't be gloomy if it's not quite what you want (have a handwork hobby you can bring with you!)
Capricorn: Reviewing and understanding household expenses, and managing the issues that have arisen due to your spouse's ambitions exceeding their abilities, is a worthy task of the next ten days. The goal here is not to chastise them like a parent does a child; instead approach it as one gardener to another, deciding what plants to prune and which to uproot completely, and what should be planted instead. In some ways it's a terrible metaphor for harvest time, but express it in terms of the abundance you both desire, and things will go more smoothly. Relationships with siblings or extended family are likely to be a mix of real-world dismays and irrational hope and possibility for the future. Your workplace or boss is likely to put an unexpected job or project on your desk in a way that feels unjust — but your own creativity and ability are more than well suited to getting this particular sail up and into the wind where it can do some good. Watch out for explosive situations when working with kids, but string the steps of your hobbyist projects together with more deliberateness than usual.
Aquarius: It's good time to have some fun and enjoy yourself, but be cautious about those entertainments that cost money. It's easy to have fun in the moment, or to get on a plane or train or bus and travel someplace new... but financial concerns may bring you regret after the fact. A private accounting of your household's current financial situation may bring some mental contentment, but it should include some kind of honest appraisal of your spouse or significant other's obligations, which may be hard to get — they have their own rules about disclosing this sort of data, and you may have to dig a little to get at it. A solo trip would bring you some good, but remember that, as Han Solo of Star Wars implies, "avoiding imperial entanglements costs more." Every day these ten days is likely to contain at least one rough or difficult interaction with someone who ought to be deferential or respectful— try to meet their rudeness with generosity and good manners... you might even get an apology.
Pisces: Put one foot in front of the other at work these next ten days — there's bosses and subordinates who will be eager to race ahead and get on with it, but a thorough and cautious review of where you are, what you're doing, and what next steps are, are all likely to yield better results long-term. Expect subordinates to show their work — but be obvious about taking responsibility when things don't go according to plan. Some deep communication with a spouse or significant other may unearth old skeletons, but you can breathe new life and possibility into them in the future if you decide to undo some of your old rules together. That may require shining some light on their financial picture, and then finding creative ways to keep you both up and running more effectively. When working on personal projects, take care with acts that may cause personal injury -- and be more sensitive to your children's boo-boos or hurts this coming week. Try to learn how to fix one problem in your household's management that you don't currently know how to do.
Aries: Remember when it was Bradifer instead of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston? Or Brangelina instead of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? Are you may be doing the same thing to your spouse or significant other, conflating you into a single unit instead of treating you as two distinct individuals? The result of this kind of commingling of self can sometimes be creative and useful, but sometimes it can make the other person feel unseen and hidden behind your combined light — and this week that may lead to argument and dissension, especially if there are financial issues lurking under the surface that suddenly break into visibility; or if there are extended family issues that require you both to be on the same page. Accept that there are some appropriate limits on how long or how well you can be "one person" without putting space between you. Additionally, a financial matter at work may spill over into something that requires extra hours to solve while you're at home — report (and expect) compensation.
Taurus: So many things that are normally settled and stable seem to be up in the air or going through changes — but the real change is in you. Have you tried praying lately? What are you doing to cultivate your own patience and stability? And (not to put too fine a point on it), what are you doing to cultivate your own desires and those of your spouse or significant other? Some communication may be needed to dig up and re-invigorate old desires, and to break through old limitations. Time on your own may feel gratifying, but also constraining and relatively limited; your real power and potential right now comes from spending time in a state of enthusiasm with friends. At the same time, recognize that travel and learning opportunities have associated costs and expenses — and your desires and generosity may lead to choosing adventures larger than your budge or attention can manage. What excitement can you find that's closer to home, and what can you create on a daily basis that doesn't strain the limits of your downtime?
Gemini: Off on another adventure? About to take a new class or workshop? Starting a personal study routine? You're likely to succeed at any or all of these — but remember that success often requires focus and attention to one thing at a time in big ways. Don't overextend your efforts too much in any one area this week. Take note of your finances too, especially if an employer gives you a check from time to time — whether through incompetence or malice, you can expect someone to give you a dressing-down at work, or for your compensation to come up short. Make sure you're paid what you're owed! There's some tedious solo obligations that you have to attend to iwth patience and attention to detail; sign papers on the correct and indicated line, and hold on to whatever documentation you generate (photograph things that you sign, if you must) — probably a good idea to read anything you're handed in an adversarial setting, and if it's important enough, you may want to take it to a legal advisor. Expect some of your routine sources of pleasure to bring you some difficulty or challenge, which you'll have to address in creative ways. The workplace will be difficult this week, but try to keep your spirits up publicly, with an enthusiasm you may not privately feel. Time spent with friends is well-spent time, even if it's not always exactly what you need.
Cancer: It's hard to know whether "trouble at work" will come from a client or a supervisor, but it looks like it happens behind closed doors — so work with an "open door" policy whenever possible... and note carefully when you're entitled to keep someone out, and pick-and-choose who you invite in. You have some selective choices to make about how to focus your learning efforts this week, but don't depend on a study group or a traveling companion for your inner journey. You will do better on your own or in asking a spouse to quiz you. Speaking of which, your significant other may be making important economic decisions behind your back: it's worth asking them to review the choices they're making and explaining them, even if you agree with all of them. A similar review of familial matters may be required with your siblings or relations. If there's an issue in your house or living situation that's giving you stress, like a leaky faucet or a malfunctioning air conditioner or heating duct... now is the time to address this problem. A friend is a source of burning discontent or difficulty in your life right now, but the best way to address this is to find your own patience. You may be asked to take on a new role at work, but ask yourself if this is really a promotion — or some kind of easy way to foist extra labor on you for no additional pay? If you want a new payment plan in exchange, enlist an ally in the negotiation.
Leo: Spend time with friend and allies this coming week, but be sure that at least some of them are folks that you would trust with your deepest confidences — you want to have people that you can draw closer together into your orbit, even at the cost of your own personal time off. A sibling rivalry may flare up this week — and it might be a 'blood' sibling or a sworn brother; either way, it's going to take some fancy footwork to keep that relationship steady and upright. It's worth putting in the work... but it may feel like the right thing to do, bringing the axe down on a long-standing relationship. Don't give in to the feeling. That said, if there are financial considerations at play, it's entirely reasonable to withhold expected funding and withdraw the support you previously promised. It's also worth mentioning that it would be easy for you to get in your own way this week, especially around career goals — don't put everything into a secret garden which is only accessible to those with keys. By all means, send your best friends a key... but inviting them to share it with appropriate people may bring you support you hadn't expected, and help you learn some brand-new skills. Some upsets in the workplace may bring you a set of tasks you'd rather avoid, too — try to accept them with some equanimity and grace. If you're in a relationship, be aware of the ways that your beloved partner has limited resources, and try not to be too expansive in your requests for travel money or learning time.
Virgo: Overanalyzing past mistakes and errors could really trip you up this coming week. Would it be so bad if you broke out of your enclosure and tried doing things spontaneously? Money matters are somewhat out of control in your life, and some decent re-focusing of your plan and long-range desires would be in order — but there's also re-creating whatever needs to be done to keep your revolving credit spinning and well-managed. Take appropriate steps to make sure your financial insecurities don't stop you from doing what you want or need. You and a friend may be in a state of private contention with one another; take care not to put this argument too much in the public eye in days ahead, or it may negatively affect your reputation in ways that affect your overall career goals. Some new skills have to be learned in order to remain professionally relevant; but it may be as simple as getting a quick certification in something that you already know but can't prove you know with a formal piece of paper. Would attending a workshop in a distant city be both fun and thought-provoking? Consider going farther afield than a Zoom session at your home-office desk. Your spouse or significant other is facing challenging daily restrictions and trying to maintain a brave façade in the presence of enemies — or worse, sees no enemies around them when an ambush is in the offering! You don't have to be paranoid, but some conversation around their daily routines may assuage any worries. Finally, if you're currently in school but facing a tedious assignment — just get it done. The same applies to any other task hanging over your head. You don't wanna — but it still has to be done. DO IT, and then be done with it.
