I saw this post on booksaremyfavouriteandbest who picks 3 samples each week to read and decide if it's a book she might want to read or if it's a no-go. I thought this was a great idea. I currently have 972 samples on my Kindle, ridiculous right!
So the plan is to go through three each week (or more) and decide if I want to read them, if they are available in Kindle Unlimited or if I can get them from the library. If it is something I really want to read and the price is reasonable I may buy or keep it in my samples for a later date.
My reading choices have changed over the past 10 years so I expect (hope) to be removing a fair few of them.
I missed this post last week but have managed to go through 18 samples!
I got rid of 5 books that I won't read, found I'd already bought 1 of the books, put 2 on a wishlist for when I win the lotto as they are over $100 for the ebook (never going to happen) so I'm sure you can imagine the price for a physical copy (unlikely unless I get that lotto win), and decided 2 of the books I'd get from the library. This takes me down to 959 books, still ridiculous but I've knocked a few off.
I'm definitely going to read
Ambiguous by Leslie McAdam (on KU)
American Gods by Neil Gaiman - because of its size I'll need to read the ebook
Anxious People by Fredrick Backman (I'll borrow this from the library)
Arson at the Art Gallery by Christine Lee (on KU)
Art for Self Care: Create Powerful, Healing Art by Listening to Your Inner Voice by Jessica Swift (I'd love the hardcopy but will see how the finances go next year)
The Art of Being by Erich Fromm (whether I fully understand it all will be another thing) (on KU)
The Art of Disappearing: Buddha's Path to Lasting Joy by Ajahn Brahma (another I may not fully grasp but Buddhism has always interested me)
The Ascended Angels Chronicles (A Dark Paranormal Romance) by Kim Petersen (on KU)
Atlantis Fallen by C.E. Murphy ( I'll borrow the ebook from Hoopla) - I used to buy all this authors physical books, it's just not feasible these days.
Attachment Informed Art Therapy: Strengthening Emotional Ties Throughout the Lifetime by Lucille Proulx - the cost of the physical book is prohibitive so I'll stick with the kindle edition.
I had already bought
Aria by Michael R. Hicks
Wishlist because of ridiculous price
Art Psychotherapy by Harriet Wadeson
Art Therapy and Emotion Regulation Problems: Theory and Workbook by Suzanne Haeyen - this is $172 for the kindle edition 😱
I removed
Always by Kindle Alexander - chapter 1 didn't grab me.
Always Three by J.P. James - I liked the premise but the sample I read had too many spelling errors, wrong word choices or missing words and the reviews indicated this was all the way through which throws me off when reading
Andrew's Outback Love by Susan Horsnell - the sample sounded quite good but it wasn't on KU and I couldn't see myself buying in the near or distant future.
Archer by Haley Jenner - I didn't even read the sample because the book doesn't seem to be available anymore.
Aries Jones by Robin Rance - as above, it doesn't seem to be available anymore.
Phew, that took up a lot of my reading time, but it was good to go through and revisit these to see if I was still interested.
Until next time, happy reading.
