Sample Sunday #3

By Claire Louisa on Sep 8, 2024

I saw this post on booksaremyfavouriteandbest who picks 3 samples each week to read and decide if it's a book she might want to read or if it's a no-go. I thought this was a great idea. I currently have 972 samples on my Kindle, ridiculous right!

So the plan is to go through three each week (or more) and decide if I want to read them, if they are available in Kindle Unlimited or if I can get them from the library. If it is something I really want to read and the price is reasonable I may buy or keep it in my samples for a later date.

My reading choices have changed over the past 10 years so I expect (hope) to be removing a fair few of them.

Instead of removing any this week, I have instead added a couple (sigh), I'm still going through alphabetically (except for the 2 new ones).

The new ones are Letters from the Fire by Alma Alexander & Deck Deckert which I saw on The Chocolate Lady's Book Review Blog and is set during the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia a situation I know absolutely nothing about and feel I should know more about the things that go on in our world. This is one I will be buying.

The other was Jilya: How one Indigenous woman from the remote Pilbara transformed psychology by Tracy Westerman. This book aligns well with my study for my Diploma of Mental Health and was recommended by an Indigenous friend who has just completed her Masters of Psychology. I will be buying this one also.

Almost Dead by Kaz Delaney - A glitzy whodunit set amongst the Gold Coast elite and a hilarious romance between Macey Pentecost, the privileged teenager with a social conscience who just happens to see ghosts, and the good-looking surf champion Finn. This sounds like a fun read and one I'll keep for later.

All You Touch by E.M. Lindsey - When he prayed for an angel, this blond Norse god wasn't what he was expecting… All You Touch is the second book in the low-angst, humorous, steamy series, Love Starts Here. It contains no cheating, and a happily ever after. Another one I want to read.

All That Was Left Unsaid by Jacquie Underdown - A vicious small-town murder, two unusual suspects, one big lie… When a vicious murder is committed on a quiet street in this small, blue-collar town, the three women are caught in the riptide of an investigation. Two are suspects. One will lose everything. And someone is lying. A tangled lattice of manipulation and deceit must be unravelled to discover who the true culprit is. And yes, surprise surprise, I want to read this too.

All Tied Up by Reese Morrison - All Tied Up features an older man who doesn't think he'll ever be anyone's boy, a flirty, genderflexible brat who doesn't dare to hope for another boy to like him, and the brat's Daddy who's afraid to let anyone else get close... but will do anything to give his boy what he really needs. It also has adorable nicknames, exhibitionism, impact play, and an HEA. And yes, I want to read this too.

I must be adding samples in my sleep because I started with 972, I've deleted a few and now have 979, oops, so much for cutting them down. I know I've added a lot to my wishlist this week too.

Oh well, until next week, happy reading.
