New Release Book Review: Romeo Falling by Jesse H. Reign

By Claire Louisa on Sep 6, 2024

4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

Jude and Romeo, I loved their story, it kept me up reading into the small hours.

I would have liked to have gotten Romeo's POV but the way Jesse H. Reign wrote it means it probably would have been an entirely different story.

My heart ached for Jude, loving his best friend all these years and thinking he didn't love him back. While I'm not usually a fan of miscommunication or no communication and want to say 'For gods sake just talk, you're best friends it won't kill your friendship to be honest', in Jude and Romeo's case I was able to just go with it, (they were young and unsure) and let the story unfold, hoping with everything that they would get their HEA.

I loved Jude and as Romeo's story unfolded and I got to know him, I loved him too. Romeo's marriage isn't all it seems. Though we tend to think of abuse usually coming from the man it's certainly not always the case (though men are often not believed or looked down upon if they speak up). I felt for Romeo and felt he'd lost himself somewhere along the way, probably when he listened to the wrong person and didn't speak to the right person causing him to make a life-changing decision. It's one of those if only and in hindsight situations when everything is finally revealed.

The connection between these two former best friends and lovers is strong and the rekindling of their friendship and feelings was an emotional one for them both, and for me the reader. I'm glad I got to join them on their journey to a HEA.

I always enjoy this author's novels and this was no exception.

About the book

What happens when he's your Romeo…but you're no Juliet?

Romeo and I were friends long before we were lovers. Best friends. Ride or die. What started as an innocent kiss slowly unravelled and shattered, giving way to years of tears and total obsession.

Now I'm back in the small town I call home, staring straight into the face of the only man I've ever loved…or hated. To make matters worse, his wife stands at his side, smiling sweetly as my heart breaks all over again.

When life throws us back together, cracks quickly start to appear in the perfect façade of their marriage, and I'm left fighting the unstoppable force that is my attraction to Romeo.

My enemy.

My lover.

My life.

Some say fate is written in the stars and once something is done, it can't be undone.

But what if that isn't true?

If you could rewrite the stars and unbreak your heart, would you?

About the Author

I'm Jesse, and I write contemporary and paranormal MM romance.

Whether my characters are born magical, or whether magic is something they make between the sheets, I strive to take the reader into the mind of the narrator. My ultimate goal is to leave the reader feeling like they've made a new friend or have spent a few hours flirting with a brand-new book boyfriend.

I love coffee, chocolate and daydreaming, in no particular order. I love conflicted characters, lust at first sight and angst – no seriously, ALL the angst. Give it to me!
