My father worked in a paper factory that also made different types of board, including fibreboard, from which old-style suitcases were made. He made me a dollhouse from said board. It was pretty basic, and I had cheap plastic furniture for it, which I loved.
In Stockholm, the Nordic museum has (or used to have) a gorgeous collection of old dollhouses. There is a also a lovely one at a café near us. I always stop to marvel at the detail. The tiny food tins and washing powders have proper labels on them and everything is to scale.
I also follow Carinne (My Life in Miniature) on Instagram. The detail is absolutely incredible and it seems that many things actually work!
