The light is ever changing on the river and over the reed beds. It's a challenge to catch how lovely it can be. here's two versions of the same scene in soft pastel. The first is a simple block in on a sienna Colourfix original paper and the second is more fully developed on an umber Colourfix original paper. Both using predominantly Unison and Terry Ludwig pastels.
I was most interested in the light in the sky which was a lovely warm peachy colour. I added that same warm colour onto the tops of the reeds.
The first version was at high tide so I used the water to reflect the blues of the sky high overhead to give a cool contrast to all the warms. The second version was at low tide so I used the exposed wet mud to reflect the sky blue.
Can I call this a postcard? Maybe I should call it a Twofer Postacrd? Two versions of the same scene with the same warm cast but still quite different.
