This is a busy place at lunchtime. Zohar was behind the counter and serving, and Chef Gili was in the kitchen. A world traveler and trained under legendary Israeli chefs, Chef Gili opened Gili's Kitchen along with co-founder Ricki Ben Simon in Jacksonville in 2017. Their goal was "to bring the freshest, most flavorful kosher cooking to the Jacksonville area and Jewish community". Apparently they have done just that. We certainly enjoyed it. Christine was so happy to find a real New York deli pastrami sandwich, and Carol tried their Shawarma, a pita filled with chicken, Israeli salad and hummus. Mary and I had to have the soup (for our SOUPER SKETCHERS sketchbooks) and added the hummus with Israeli salad and pita. It was all good, some of the best hummus I've tasted. This was a fun day, and I loved the mural of the Jacksonville skyline on the wall. | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
