Top Five Friday #1 – Top Five Reads of August

By Claire Louisa on Aug 30, 2024

I have no idea where I think I'm going to find all this extra time to do all the blog posts I've decided to start or join in with but I'll see how I go.

I was looking for a Friday post and couldn't see anything then I found Top Five Friday from what looks like a now unused blog Little Birds Book Blog and decided I might try a different topic each Friday except for the last Friday in the month which I'm going to post my Top Five Reads for the month.

So, August was my lowest reading month this year with only 14 titles completed; 4 of these were audiobooks and the rest were ebooks.

My Top Five were

After Story by Larissa Behrendt - This was a gentle story, I don't know how else to describe it, but it covered some serious topics and the consequences of those traumas, decisions made, trauma and generational trauma. I really enjoyed this tale and didn't want to stop listening each time I turned it on, read my full review.

Every Moment Since by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen - crime/mystery - review coming soon

Both of these were audiobooks and the narration was top class for both.

Whiskey Neat (Last Call #1) by Mia Monroe - MM romance set around a group of friends who come back together after 20 years apart to open a gay bar - read my review

Siren in the Rain by Chloe Archer - MM fantasy - Siren in the Rain had me feeling so many emotions, sadness, anger, joy, hope, love, humour, and heartbreak, I got to experience a gamut of emotions as I got to know the characters and their backstories and travel with them on their journey to a HEA - read my full review.

And lastly, this was a hard one because there were a couple I wanted to pick, but ultimately I picked -

Stronger Than Fate by Becca Seymour - MM urban fantasy - As the 4th and final book in the Fangs & Felons series I knew it would have to go out with a bang and it didn't disappoint. I loved diving back into this world and the found family the members of the SICB have become and Stronger than Fate brought all the players together to bring down the bad guys, finally. Read my series review.

Until next Friday when I'll post a new Top Five Friday topic, I'd love to hear what your five favourite reads of August were. Happy reading.
