When high-ranking NATO officials are attacked across the world, Scot Harvath and his team are called in to investigate. Rumors of Russia's involvement lead the team to Sweden, where they must find and dismantle a Russian terrorist cell before an attack occurs and a new war starts.
This book is the 17th book in the Scot Harvath series and the first book I've read by Brad Thor and I really enjoyed it. The story was interesting and I liked the way the book is written. The chapters are fairly short and almost each chapter moves to a different character/scene so it always felt like the action was ongoing. It was never slow or felt like a slog.
Even though I've never read any of the Scot Harvath books, I thought it was super easy to follow along with the story. I didn't really need any backstory and I never felt like I was missing any important information. I got the impression that all the books in the series could be read as a standalone, which is nice. It's nice not to have to read every other book in the series just to figure out what is happening.
The plot was good and fairly simple and not bogged down with extra information. Basically, Russia wants to invade so they set up terrorist cells in Sweden to help the invasions from the inside and Harvath has to figure out who is running the cells and capture the bad guys. The book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so I'm curious as to how the next book begins.
I thought this one was a good choice for my first Brad Thor novel (although some of the reviews I read mentioned that earlier books in the series were better).
