thank goodness the studio is relatively cool as we are still weaving - in a heat wave
my student is enjoying sampling while her skills and understanding improve
on the log cabin threaded warp
the weft (weaving thread) is the paper yarn - shifu - I spun from shoji paper
the blue is paper I dyed in an indigo vat years ago and then cut and spun
it is light in colour because the paper started to disintegrate in the dye bath
I finally finished winding a multi-coloured tea towel warp and warping the loom
it is wildly different from my usual colour choices - chosen for a guild challenge
the warp is the same pattern and measurements as the previous tea towels except for the colours
the weaving pattern is Brighton Honeycomb which results in a very textured cloth
once off the loom and washed it shrinks considerably
under tension, on the loom it measures 17 inches - washed it is 14.5 inches
I'm going to have fun choosing colours for border stripes
all this bright red certainly isn't very cooling
