Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week's topic is a throwback freebie so I went back through the archives looking for an interesting Top Ten Tuesday topic and came across this one: Best Books I've Read During Each of the Last 10 Years. I thought it would be super interesting to look at my past reading and see what books I liked in the past. Of course, I used my trusty Goodreads to look at books I've read each year and to see what I rated them.
Here are the best books I've read during each of the last 10 years:
2014
Something About You by Julie James. This was the first book I read by Julie James and I was instantly hooked. I've read all of her FBI/US Attorney series.
2015
Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This was the first Naomi Novik book I've read and I loved this fantasy story rooted in folklore.
2016
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. A great book about WWII.
2017
My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. I had drifted away from Sophie Kinsella after getting annoyed at her Shopaholic series but I really liked this one.
2018
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. I still think about this book with its murderous mermaids.
2019
This was a tough one. I read so many good books in 2019 like Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik, Becoming by Michelle Obama, The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch, and The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg, but my favorite book read in 2019 is probably Recursion by Blake Crouch.
2020
Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber. I also really liked Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen and The Witness by Nora Roberts.
2021
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Rocky ended up being my favorite character!
2022
I read a lot of good books this year like The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston and Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes (just a coincidence that they both have "dead" in the title!), but my favorite book from 2022 is Book Lovers by Emily Henry.
2023
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. A close second is The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.
Happy reading!
