Abu Dhabi's independent creative platform 421 Arts Campus has unveiled its summer programmes and exhibitions. The season that runs from July 8th to September 26th, 2024, will feature a series of writers' workshops, children's summer club, film screenings, panel discussions and the continuation of two major exhibitions. Located in Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed, previously known as Warehouse421, the arts institution is housed in a renovated warehouse that was repurposed as an exhibition and community space featuring galleries, studios and an outdoor plaza that serves as a venue for film screenings, performances and art installations.

Workshops
'Compositions' -- the highlight of the summer programme will involve a host of special events centered around the written word to support authors. Pencil-in, the writer's group will meet on July 25th, Aug 8th, Aug 22nd and Sept 11th for feedback and peer reviews. Each session will be mentored by an artist or writer from the community. At the end of the season, the writers contributions will be compiled and accessible to the public at the 421 Reading Room.
Clubs and exhibitions
An enriching summer awaits young minds at the 421 campus. From July 8th to Sept 9th, the children's summer club invites budding artists to explore crafts and discover new skills.
As part of Khayal with Early Starters families with children over the age of six can discover a range of activities about the ongoing Composition series. The dates for this event are July 28 and September 21.
For art enthusiasts the institution offers two ongoing exhibitions -- Mona Ayyash: The Clock Doesn't Care and On a Timeline: 2024 MFA Graduate Show of New York University, Abu Dhabi students.
In her first solo exhibition, The Clock Doesn't Care, Mona Ayyash presents a collaborative video piece with a group of actors, dancers, and performance artists, focusing on small body movements. On view until August 25, 2024, the work is a study of repetitive non-functional movements and questions the tension between passing time and wasting time. Mona will also lead a creative writing workshop -- Watching and Waiting, that will mirror the themes presented in the exhibition.
On a Timeline: 2024 MFA Graduate Show displays students' artworks from the New York University, Abu Dhabi's Master of Fine Arts in Art and Media course. On view until Aug 25th, 2024, the exhibition will conclude with a workshop by participating artist, Sarah Alahbabi, who will share her research on manifestos across the years.
Film Screenings and panel discussions
Publication and Podcast
The Summer 2024 programme will also see the release of Madness of the Anthropocene: Thinking with an Image, a publication edited by Lina Ramadan and published by 421 Arts Campus and Kaph. Based on the 1976 Crystal Manifesto by the Crystalist School in Khartoum, Sudan, the publication presents artistic interventions and essays. This season will also see the release of the third season of 'A Future in the Folds of the Past', the only Arabic-language podcast dedicated to contemporary visual arts in the region. The podcast promises to take listeners on a journey exploring critical issues through the lens of contemporary art and culture.
The film screening of Uncharted Paths: DocuShorts in Focus will take place on August 15th.Celebrating short docu-films from the region the film programme presents works by artists taking part in the Arab Film Studios programme. The evening will conclude with a panel discussion.
