Hi everyone! This month the Imagine design team will be sharing some projects beside cards. I recently attended a wedding and wanted to make a little keepsake for my friend, and I thought a shrinky dink charm would be a memorable gift.
Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes
Step 1
I usually use StazOn inks for stamping on non-porous surfaces. However, I wanted to use the wedding theme colors, so I chose to use VersaMagic Thatched Straw and Aspen Mist instead. The stamped images are slightly splotchy on shrinky dink sheets. If I hadn't die cut the circle shape in the beginning, I could restamp a couple more times to get better ink coverage. But I thought the splotchy look gave an organic, rustic feel that is unique as well.
Step 2
If you want to make a charm, be sure to hole punch before you start heat setting the shrinky dink!
Step 3
Place the shrinky dink in a heat-resistant container, such as a shoe box.
Step 4
Heat set the shrinky dink with a heat tool. The thin sheet will start to curl but don't worry, just trust the process and it will flatten out eventually. Once it has finished shrinking, place an acrylic stamping block on top immediately to make sure that it is completely flat. I then added a little jewelry charm to complete this monogram keepsake. I hope this inspires you to create customizable charms with shrinky dinks!
