I can't believe it is already July and the year is half over. Seattle was deep into June Gloom, with it being cool and cloudy much of the month. It seems strange that only a couple of years ago, we were having a crazy heat wave with temperatures over 100 degrees. I'm hoping this summer isn't too warm. I don't have air conditioning in my apartment but I do have a ceiling fan that makes such a difference in the heat.
Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the things I was up to in June.
What I'm watching:
I started watching a show on Netflix called The 100. It's a show that aired on the CW in the mid-2010s and it takes place in the future following a nuclear apocalyptic event on Earth where all the survivors are living on the space station called the Ark. Approximately 100 years after the nuclear apocalypse, the leaders of the Ark decide to send a group of 100 juvenile delinquents down to Earth in order to determine if the Earth is habitable. There they encounter descendants of survivors of the nuclear disaster.
The show is pretty good so far. I'm still on season 1 so who knows what could happen though. I am amused by the similarities to Lord of the Flies, which makes me wonder what the leaders thought would happen when they sent a group of teenagers down to Earth to fend for themselves. Everything quickly escalated into chaos which didn't surprise me.
Where I'm traveling:
I just returned, a couple of weeks ago, from spending a long weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC. One of my friends rents a beach house there for a week every summer and this year, she invited a bunch of us out to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was a lot of fun and we spent a lot of time just hanging out by the pool in the shade. I had never been to Myrtle Beach before and I have to say, they are all about southern hospitality down there. Everyone was so nice! That being said, I have also never seen so many big trucks and SUVs. Almost every SUV had a third row and so many of the trucks had extended cabs. I don't know how they drive those cars without hitting something!
See you next month!
