Sometimes the inspiration is simple pattern and colour and the river has that in spades! This was the view upriver when I opened the curtains this morning and it was the layers of purples, yellows and blues that grabbed my attention but it was that little ribbon of dark against light in the water that made me know it was today's postcard.
Those bands of colour have very little detail but it's the simplicity and the contrast I was drawn to.
There are so often interesting patterns in the water. Ripples from a diving cormorant, the wake of a passing boat, reflections refracted by a breeze, all of these and more go into creating an everchanging view from my windows.
In keeping with the simplicity of today's postcard I think that's all I have to say 🙂
