A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood.
The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them.
James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone. Outnumbered and outgunned, the embattled remnants of the old political powers call on the Rocinante for a desperate mission to reach Medina Station at the heart of the gate network.
But the new alliances are as flawed as the old, and the struggle for power has only just begun. As the chaos grows, an alien mystery deepens. Pirate fleets, mutiny and betrayal may be the least of the Rocinante's problems. And in the uncanny spaces past the ring gates, the choices of a few damaged and desperate people may determine the fate of more than just humanity.

Hollis' 4 star review
Guess who's back. Back again. I just couldn't stay away. I just can't quit you, Expanse.
There really is something so addictive and compelling about these books, these characters, the themes, and plots. In this sixth book, it does feel a bit like a continuation, even a part two, from the fifth book, but it seems (maybe! we've been wrong before..) that this is a closing chapter on that, well, chapter. This particular conflict, in it's current form, has (hopefully) run it's course. And there's a lot of satisfaction in that. But I also have a feeling that Marco is going to show up again like a bad penny..
.. because the way he was defeated, one of the mysteries of book five and six, was used in the Roci, and the world's, favour. But the consequences of that, the reason, it's all unknown. So I mean who knows.
So much of this world has changed now; not just from rampaging alien artifacts and technology and wormhole gates but the very fabric of humanity's place and ability to survive in their known system. Not to mention the necessity of coming together; not just Earth and Mars and Belt but humanity.
I don't know how long it will last, there are too many moving parts, too much history, and way way too much still known, but I am hoping that we might be headed somewhere good and that these characters find themselves getting a break from saving the world, at least for a little while. Only one way to find out!
