Some lead to secret fishing spots, others to dinghys or canoes, some end up at hidden away swimming places and others are simply walking tracks beside the river. We have one of our own across the road from our house that winds down the bank through blackberries and ends up on the shore at a small flat pebbled beach and a little ramp into the water. It's flanked by large lichen covered rocks and backed by a wild banana passionfuit running rampant through the bush. Today's postcard, in acrylic gouache, is of another track just down the road which leads to a lovely little red row boat kept there so the owners can row out to their yacht moored offshore. It was a sunny morning and i stopped on my way to Geeveston to check out the track and see if it would make a good postcard for the day. The light on the trees and foilage was beautiful and that little splash of red provided a great complimentary contrast. Also loved the way the tree leans out over the water and frames the scene. I'm very fond of pathways, roads and tracks as painting subjects and am happy that I caught the sunny, bright mood of this little spot by the banks of the Huon. Having done a few watercolour postcards lately I'm pleased to be back with the acrylic gouache! I really feel like I'm loosening up and leaving the details behind so I'm hoping this will play out in some of my larger paintings. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
