Can I just say, I love living in the East Bay where the farmers markets are plenty! Here's my weekly list of farmers markets.
The Kensington farmers market is currently my favorite farmers market because it's close by; parking is relatively easy (we usually park midway between the market and the nearby park); and small (one block) but packed with a variety of produce, ready-made treats and meals, music, coffee, and bread. On repeat: berries (when in season) and shortbread from Maison Bouche. I love coming here to enjoy the local band and gather all my produce for the week.
I like to schedule my oil changes on Tuesdays because the oil change place is near the Concord farmers market. I've only been a couple of times, but am pleased to report that it has grown over the years to offer more variety.
I like the vibe at this market; it really feels like community here, like people just walk down the street out of their homes and gather here. I love that! This market boasts all the produce, usually some really great floral selections, and a local favorite - Andy and Cindy's Thai Food. We're really big on parks now because toddler, and this one is close to a mini park, perfect for after-market hangs. See my full notes here.
Why Aren't There Any Markets on (Wednesdays)
I feel like Wednesday would be a great day for a farmers market - right in the middle of the week when you probably want to restock some produce. Just putting that out there, East Bay.
This market is a special one because we strolled through this market on our wedding day and one of the vendors even gifted us a basket of fruit. It's definitely on the smaller size and I usually feel a little empty handed after a visit, but it's a nice spot to grab a few items for a mini restock. I usually like to pair a visit with snacks from a nearby restaurant and a picnic at Live Oak Park.
I used to frequent this market on the regular when I worked nearby. This one spreads over a few blocks and has a festival feel with lots of places to people watch, enjoy a meal, and listen to music. There are usually a handful of Asian-forward produce vendors; I enjoy seeing some of my child/adulthood favorites like malunggay and bittermelon. On my last visit I scored a beautiful bouquet of Thai basil. Also fun, visiting the local shops and my favorite dim sum or banh mi / boba spot.
This one is a fun one for the whole family with a great variety of produce and prepared food, entertainment, and story time for the littles. See my full notes here.
There are so many more farmers markets in the area and I'm sad to report I have not been to them all. Do you have a favorite farmers market in your neighborhood? Share, share!
