At the beginning of the year, I showed you my planner and journal lineup aka Techo Kaigi 2024. I'm excited to share with you how I use my Hobonichi HON Tomotaro Maino A5 to keep my life organized, creative, and productive. The HON is a gem in the world of planners, offering ample space for planning, journaling, and creativity. Let's dive into how I utilize each section: the Yearly Index, Monthly Calendar, Weekly Pages, and Daily Pages.
Yearly Index
The Yearly Index is where I start my journey with the Hobonichi HON. This section is perfect for an at-a-glance overview of the entire year. The Yearly Index helps me keep the big picture in mind while planning forward. Here's how I use it:
- Highlights: I listed 3 highlighted events of the month.
- Important Dates and Events: I marked birthdays, anniversaries, and events.
- This Month: A dedicated space at the bottom to note down all the monthly to-dos, like paying bills or specific tasks.
Monthly Calendar
The Monthly Calendar is my go-to for scheduling and planning. It is essential for keeping my schedule organized and ensuring I don't miss any important dates. Each month, I set it up as follows:
- Rating with Stars: I rate different aspects of my life such as work, mental health, physical health, finance, and creativity using stars to visualize my rating and areas needing attention.
- Key Dates: I highlight dates divided into holidays, birthdays, and other significant events in different colors to distinguish between them easily.
- Monthly Focus: At the beginning of each month, I list my primary focuses in the bottom section.
- Appointments and Events: I write down all my appointments, meetings, and events. This helps me visualize my commitments for the month.
Weekly Pages
The Weekly Pages are where I break down my monthly plans into manageable tasks. Those pages are where I translate my monthly goals into actionable steps, keeping me productive and on track. Here's how I make the most of this section:
- Weekly Tasks: I list out tasks that need to be completed during the week. This can include specific to-dos that don't fit into a particular day but are important for the week.
- Tracker: I use this section to track daily habits such as exercise, IF16/8, and other goals.
- Review: At the end of the week, I write a brief review of how the week went, noting any achievements or areas for improvement.
- Daily To-Do: Each day, I jot down specific tasks that need to be completed. This keeps me focused and ensures I stay productive.
- Food Log: I keep track of what I eat each day, which helps me maintain a healthy diet and be mindful of my nutrition.
- Expenses: I record my daily spending to keep an eye on my budget and financial health.
- Memo: This section is for jotting down any notes, reminders, or things to remember.
Daily Pages
The Daily Pages are my favorite part of the Hobonichi HON. They offer ample space for journaling and reflection. I also use the first page of each month for highlight reel photos, printed from my Canon Selphy CP1500 printer. Here's how I use them:
- Journaling: I use most space for writing a morning page to clear my mind before having a cup of coffee and starting my day.
- Detailed Scheduling: I break down my day hour by hour, ensuring I make the most of my time. This includes work tasks, personal activities, and time for breaks.
- 3 Good Things: I end each day by noting down three good things that happened on that day. This practice helps cultivate gratitude and a positive mindset.
My Hobonichi HON is more than just a planner; it's a tool for organization and self-reflection. By using the Yearly Index, Monthly Calendar, Weekly Pages, and Daily Pages, I can manage my time effectively, stay on top of my goals, and express myself creatively. I hope this guide inspires you to make the most of your Hobonichi Techo. Happy planning!
