I've previously written a hymn for a Venus Cazimi in Libra, and it makes sense to continue the trend with a hymn for Tuesday's Venus Cazimi in Gemini at 11:11 am EDT on 4 June 2024
What is a cazimi? It's when Venus or Mercury (most commonly, but sometimes Mars or Jupiter or Saturn) is in "the heart of the Sun". To an observer on Earth, the planet is obscured by the disk of the Sun exactly, with less than 1° of arc, and at the same latitude — or when Venus or Mercury's disk appears as a black spot on the Sun. It's not possible for other planets to form this more persnickety cazimi of course, because only Venus and Mercury pass between Earth and the Sun.
This is the former, less-persnickety version of the cazimi. Venus is currently on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth. Astrologers and astronomers have historically called this, the exterior or superior conjunction, in which Venus is invisible to Earth, and fully in communion with the heavens. In that sense, this is a kind of heavenly hieros gamos or holy wedding between Sun and Venus — and taking place in Gemini, the realm of divine mind.
Hymn for Venus Cazimi in Gemini
Hail to you, Venus, in heaven's bright arcs,
resting in the lap of the Sun's fierce ray!
Are these coronas the love-bites and marks
of desire's kisses, and erotic play?
No shadows fall on her auburn tresses —
sweat glistens in the heat of their union,
yet we mortals can only imagine
Venus without layers of silk dresses,
baring herself to Apollo's ruin,
eager for his caresses and passion!
Oh, you Sun, diligent in your labor,
ascending the sky in daily routine
shining on good and bad without favor,
and toiling even when veiled, unseen
in mist, or fog, or cloudy weather...
Yet here, in public view, on mountains high,
you clothe your girl in heaven's gossamer,
and on a divan of stars you bed her
and with golden gleams you help her fly
higher than harlot or philosopher!
Brightest Brilliance, cherishing Heaven's Queen:
May your ardent aromas cascade down
from starry regions where Love reigns supreme
on friends and family, my country and town —
enriching passion, arousing senses,
provoking up gusto, enlivening play,
and vigorously stirring loins and hearts!
Help would-be lovers drop pretenses,
and let long-married folks forget their gray
and recollect their skills in lovers' arts!
