This is my second little mini postcard sketch for my Life on the River series ...note it's not Day 2... as I'm sure I'm going to miss a day here an there and I want this to be a really relaxing and enjoyable project! I'm excited to see where they take me and how the year unfolds. 365 minis would be awesome but if there are only 99 I'll still have learned heaps and had much joy in the painting. As always I'm very happy to hear your thoughts, suggestions on possible tweaks to the composition and any arty observations you might wish to share.
This little cove is just round the corner from my home so I get to pass by it often. There are a few boats moored here but the orange and yellow pair are my favourites. Their bright paintwork always cheers my day. The river is changeable and I love all it's moods but there's a special thrill in turning the corner on a calm day and catching the perfect reflections of clouds, boats and hills through the trees. The little track and the scattering of dinghy's at the shore all add a pleasing sense of layers and depth to this scene. I think this one will get an upgrade to a full size painting with a few tweaks.
