Happy June! Is it summer yet? Although we have moved into 9 pm sunsets, it definitely does not feel like summer in Seattle. I had a bit of trouble writing this post, mainly because I didn't have much to tell you all. When I sat down to reflect on what I did last month, I felt like I didn't do much. A lot of my days were spent working, reading, crocheting, and looking at all the beautiful flowers blooming in the city.

Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the things I was up to in May.

What I'm eating:
Well, more like baking, because I went to a macaron baking class at Whisk in Bellevue and I made (and ate) a bunch of lemon-lime macarons. It was so much fun. I went with a co-worker so we were able to have our baking station right next to each other and, in fact, the station was set up so we could work as a team. The chef was great and did an amazing job of explaining everything to all of us. For a first-time macaron baker, I think my macarons turned out fabulous. They weren't perfect, some tops had some cracks, and a couple got smushed when taking the pans out of the oven, but they tasted pretty good. They had a lemon-lime buttercream frosting that was somehow tart and sweet at the same time. I have yet to bake them on my own (we got a copy of the recipe to take home) but I can't wait to try.

What I'm watching:
I've been back on a YouTube kick. I've been watching a lot of crochet and knitting-related videos. I really like to turn these on in the evenings to play in the background when I'm checking my email or doing other random things around my apartment. I've also been watching a cozy favorite of mine, Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version). I can quote almost this whole movie and it's another good one to play in the background.

What I'm reading:
The Seattle Public Library got hit with a ransomware attack and their lending website has been down for over a week. I'm not going to lie, but I've been struggling. I never realized how much I go on the library website to check on my holds or look up books until I wasn't able to do so. It seemed like every day this past week, I wanted to use the website and it wasn't available. I guess the good news is that I don't have to return any books. But the bad news is that I can't see what books I have on hold and what number I am in the hold line and what is coming due.  Hopefully they can get everything fixed soon.

What I'm loving:
I've gone on some great walks with my friend Alli and hope to go on more this summer. I'm trying to get back into walking more, especially since it is lighter in the evenings and the weather is getting nicer in the mornings. Walking is just great for my physical and mental health. I know we all make fun of the meme that says, "I'm going on my stupid walk for my stupid mental health." but it really does help. Plus, as I told Alli this morning, if I go on a long walk in the morning, then I can just sit and read the rest of the day and I don't feel guilty because I got my exercise in in the morning.

See you next month!
