May Reading Wrap Up

June 2

This month's theme (which I altered because I am a grown up and can choose my own adventures) - Books on My Shelf. It was like a little party everyday! This monthly reading plan is doing great things to keep me organized but having a month to just mood read what I already owned (and eventually what was on my TBR) has reinvigorated me.

BOOKS THIS MONTH

HOW IT WENT

I finally, after years of procrastination, stepped back into the world of Fablehaven and finished the Dragonwatch series. I was so mad at one of the characters after book 3 that it took me this long to go back and enjoy myself. It was worth it. Well, after I figured out who everyone was again. There are a lot of characters in these books.

I also borrowed the newest Enola Holmes book from the library. These are cute audiobooks as well. If you are planning a road trip, any of them would be great. It never fails to impress me how much women's history Nancy Springer fits into each story.

I have had both The Good Girl's Guide to Murder and The Night in Question on my kindle for a while and this month was a perfect excuse to enjoy these suspenseful YA murder mysteries. I felt like I was on vacation reading two back to back fun books. TGGGTM had me guessing every step of the way. I mean it! I gasped aloud. If you loved Nancy Drew as a teen, this is the book for you. Meanwhile, The Night in Question was a great second book for The Agathas. I adore Iris and Alice and look forward to the next book.

My biggest disappointment this month was also a book that I highly anticipated - The Ritual Effect. Michael Norton, I trusted you! The book was billed for people who love habits so I thought it would be perfect for me. Basically, Norton seems to take the theory that the difference between habit and ritual is the meaning behind the action which is annoying. There was enough anecdotal evidence for Malcolm Gladwell to be involved. I vastly preferred The Power of Rituals.

BOOKS OUTSIDE THE THEME

Who could blame me?!? I basically needed to continue along with Pip to see how she was doing after the first book.

Tell me, please! What are you reading this month?
