It's Monday! What are you reading?

By Claire Louisa on Jul 1, 2024

First seen over on Book'd Out I'm going to try to do this post regularly linking to It's Monday! What are you reading? at BookDate.

So, it's been a fortnight since I checked in, I've had a busy time finishing up my assessments for the first term of my studies, and yay I finished them all today so I now have the next two weeks study free, hopefully more time for reading.

I had a pretty good fortnight of reading and listening.

I read an ARC of The Golden Handcuffs by K.C Carmine, a MM BDSM romance I enjoyed (my review).

I read Notorious by Leslie McAdam, this was an emotional read with serious mental health issues suffered by one of the main characters, it was so good (to read an excerpt)

I read an ARC of Stick By Me by Christie Gordon the first book in a spin-off series which was another really good read (my review).

The final book I read was The Kraken Games (Motham City Monsters #5) by Lilith Stone, a monster romance, I've enjoyed all the books in the series so far, they are fun and steamy.

On to the audiobooks for this fortnight

I listened to an ARC of Thin Ice by Lane Hayes an MM sports romance, I enjoyed it a lot (my review & excerpt).

I listened to Free Me by Beck Grey, a book I loved when I read it but the audiobook made me love it even more (my review)

I also listened to Snow Falling by Davidson King and while the story was pretty good I am not a fan of one of the narrators so if I want to explore more of this series I will be reading the books.

This week I will be reading

I am still reading an ARC of Jennie Jones' new historical fiction novel The Girls From Fitzroy which comes out at the end of the month and I'm going to her author talk on the 31st July. It's set in Australia in 1945 just as the war has ended and it's shaping up to be a good read.

I'm also currently reading an ARC of Star-Crossed Betas by Emory Winters, an MM wolf-shifter read that has such a great cover, I think it's going to be a tough road for these two mates.

I'll also be reading an ARC of When We Meet Again by Hayden Hall, another story of star-crossed lovers where I'll get to visit a few countries by the sounds of the blurb.

Audiobooks I'll be listening to

I'm still listening to The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E Schwab, an adult fantasy fiction which sounds really interesting, I'm 8 hours in and it is about 17 hours in length, it'll definitely keep me occupied while I'm driving for at least the next week.

I am also listening to Familiar Beginnings (Demon Magic #2) by Alice Winters because sometimes I need a break from Addie Larue, not because it isn't good, but because I really have to concentrate as it goes back and forth over a period of 300 years and it's nice to have something easy to listen to.

Hopefully, I'll check in again next week rather than in a fortnight. I'd love to hear what you've read or are reading.

I've been doing lots of art since I last showed you my work, I'm back using pastels, my favourite medium.

I also did an art therapy weaving workshop with my mum which we both really enjoyed.

Until next time, happy reading and/or listening.
