I have so many old project photos I've yet to post. This one is from a few years ago (2018 or 2019 I think?), when a friend of mine wanted a custom camera bag. She had a store-bought foam sleeve thingy that wasn't protective enough, and wanted a leather one made by me. She wanted the bag to be small enough to fit just her most basic camera setup and wallet, primarily for travel, and for there to be a small exterior pocket for transport cards or small, folded up bills.
I forgot to take photos from earlier in the project haha. This was already when I was starting to assemble the parts together. We decided on a double zip closure that would be pulled back by a single strap. She actually didn't want shoulder straps (I think she just planned on putting this in another bag or something like that) but I told her I'd put the D-rings to future-proof the bag in case she did decide she wanted straps next time (I can just make straps with carabiners that can clip on easily to the D-rings)
How messy this workspace is is usually the norm for me haha
As for the lining, I actually asked her if I could use her store-bought camera foam sleeve thingy, since I don't usually make camera bags and didn't have a supply of that kind of foam. I sandwiched the foam in between the thick outer leather (3mm vegtan) and the suede-like soft leather for the lining (maialino or pigskin). It turned out pretty well
She chose teal and baby pink stitches, and bright pink edge paint. I connected the two zippers via this single strap, which is just a thin strap solely for pulling the zippers, but she has gotten into the habit of carrying the whole bag with this strap, to my horror :)) I keep telling her that it's not thick enough to carry the weight of a camera! Thankfully, it hasn't failed yet, but she keeps doing it haha
The completed camera bag!
Posing with the camera in question. There are some things I would still tweak and improve, should I find myself having to make another camera bag in the future, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
