this is a tourist town and at one time advertised as being "more English than the English"

tea at the Empress
daughter-in-law arranged a "Princess Tea" at the Empress Hotel for her Brownie group
it was an amazing event - exactly as grown ups would be served
the catering was delightful with tiers of cakes, pastries and sandwiches and the hotel's signature china
the girls dressed up, I was invited along as one of the adults
