Norwood High School Musicians Prepare For District Concert-This Day in Norwood History-January 19, 1961

Ten Varsity Choir members and one Bandsman from Norwood Senior High School leave for Dartmouth, Mass, tomorrow, January 20. These 11 boys and girls will attend rehearsals at the Dartmouth High School in preparation for two Saturday concerts. The public is invited to attend either the 2:30 or 8:00 pm concert.

Norwood is well represented by these 11 outstanding musicians in the Massachusetts Southeastern District Concert. The following singers, all seniors, will be part of the 250-voice chorus Sopranos, Martha Badger, Anne Clinche, Candace Perchway; Altos, Jacqueline Diggs, Frances Eckhardt. Tenors, John DeFIaminis, Peter Reeves, Michael Stupak. Basses, Edward Duelos, David Troilo, Paul Couture, playing Sousaphone, will become part of the bass section in the 100-piece Symphonic Band. Mr. George H Farnham and Mr. John B. Faucctt are Norwood's faculty sponsors. The Norwood High Band is led by Mr. Farnham. Mr. Faucctt directs the 250-voice Norwood High Varsity Choir. Guest conductors are given the honors of directing the chorus, band, and orchestra at Dartmouth Each musical group is made up of the best musicians selected by audition, from the high schools within the district area.

There are four district concerts held in Massachusetts during the winter months. The Southeastern District Concert, sponsored by the public school music teachers and supervisors, is located within the area south of Boston and westerly to Needham.
