As we await the return of the binmen, though one is not supposed to call them that any more, but that is what we do, and we can reflect on our Christmas. All our four grandsons came for a while so the house became a sort of Brands Hatch at times and noise levels reached a high. It was a joy to see and hear them.
The LA lot were the last to go and had the furthest to travel home, and even that took them twice as long as it should after being 'bumped off' their flight. A family of four excluded from flying home, well done British Airways. One oddity was that I could text daughter all the way home on the flight, and watch her plane on a map through a flight tracker thingy so that I could tell her things like ' you are now flying over Glasgow, the one in Montana, not the one in Scotland'. Made me feel a tad better about her and the crew going home.
Meanwhile back at the ranch here, we look in the fridge and find small squares of cheese that we'd never buy in normal circumstances , the left overs from a lot of eating. I'm still getting through the bits of chocolate money left behind. You wouldn't want that melting on a plane.
Now the plan for the New Year. Tai Chi, first class on Monday, I go and try to find a pair of lightweight flat sort of shoes to wear. Buy some on line. ' you must not buy shoes on line' I'm told by the big cheese, and she's proved right yet again as they don't fit. I can take them back to the shop for a full refund, and I think perhaps whilst I'm there get some that do fit. Trip into town and into the shop soon changes my mind as the only person serving looks harassed and glum. I have no intention of buying from Mr Glum, so quickly get my refund and exit stage left.
Marks and Sparks might have something I think, so mooch up there and spend forever trying on things I don't really want. Exit stage left empty handed.
I wander into the O2 shop to check out phones, and end up getting a better deal than my present one from a girl with the same name as my daughter and things look much brighter. Thinks to self, perhaps I'll buy a lottery ticket? Nah! All that money will make me unhappy.
I go back to Marks to search out some green food. Which has been scarce in the house after all the horde has left. And I determine to get myself some lambs liver, I need the iron and the vitamin D is my excuse, but there was none available. I pick up some healthy looking fruit and head back to the car parked some distance away as I thought the walk through town would do me good, nipped into a Sports Superstore and bought some very cheap, lightweight trainers for the Tai Chi classes. Result!
So that's the first part of the New Years Resolution sorted, now the other one is not to have more than one resolution. So resolutions are resolved.
Happy New Year.
