Happened to see this at the airport duty free. Always loved the serpenti line and was curious about how it would translate to a bag, since it would make a nice set with the jewelry for events and the like
First up, the Serpentine Tote...it felt very flimsy 😦 The metal part looks and feels cool, but the leather tote part feels kinda cheap and flimsy, not luxe at all, and very very basic. There are variations of this with what looks like exotic leather on the site. I wonder if that would make it feel more luxe. This bag is €2850
Group shot: 3 colors of what we thought was a variation of the Serpenti bag (which, from afar, I had also really liked) but when I tried looking for it online, it turned out to be an Alexander Wang collab (not sure if this was a good collab... AW is kind of a step down, no?) called the Belt Bag (€2700). It looks funny with the double serpent heads instead of the Serpenti's single snake head, but the leather doesn't feel very luxe either.
The very classic looking clutch is the Serpentine Pouch. We also saw the next size which had a tophandle that was cute, but I forgot to include it in the photo haha. This is what it looks like:
In person, the size is a little awkward. A little too big for evening, a little too small for daily use. But I really like the handle
Impression: The hardware is gold-plated brass, which makes it a step above the usual brass/ iron hardware. It being plated is why it's priced a lot more "affordably" than their fine jewelry, so in that sense, they're nice add-ons if you already have the jewelry to match, or in place of the big, chunky jewelry if you want a statement piece to pair with some lower-key pieces. The leather parts are oh-kay, nothing to particularly praise, a little overpriced but if you're thinking of it in terms of "jewelry" then it seems pretty reasonable :))
