Poetry Friday: I found Christmas! (Well, I found a poem, at least)

I was looking back at a couple of past Christmas posts and noticed that two of the poems I've shared over the years were found poems - that is, poems created with words sourced from another text. In the case of these poems, I had pulled words from fellow writers' blogs and then crafted the poems using their own words!
(If you'd like to see what I mean, you can check out THIS POEM or THAT POEM)
Back in 2019, I even started off the annual Progressive Poem with song lyrics, a theme which most of the contributors kept - which meant we ended up with a collaborative found poem made up of song lyrics. (You can read it in its entirety HERE)
Anyhoo...this time around, I was researching Christmas carols and thought it might be interesting to try using them to write a poem; the problem, of course, would be to write something that didn't shout, "I was created with Christmas carol lyrics!" Christmas carols are so ubiquitous and well-known that using their familiar words and phrases would be a challenge.
So I opted for simplicity:
.....
Eve
dark streets silent stars a cold winter's night keeping away fears, .....sin, ..........dismay
Can you tell what carols the words came from? If not, I'll consider this poem a success, ha!
And there's more poetry across the blogosphere, too! Patricia Franz is hosting today's complete Poetry Friday roundup at her blog Reverie where she' celebrates a first snow - and a first sale's sharing her poetic Christmas wish.
