Still under discussion by the Board of Selectmen is the area known as the old Talbot property which the town has been considering for purchase as a municipal parking space, at the suggestion of the Planning Board.
General Manager Edward C. Monahan informed the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night that property owners Leia Talbot, Mary L, Mulvehill, Louis and Malcolm Orent, and Michael and Annie T. Conboy have stated that they are willing to sell a section of their property, totaling 48,713 square feet. Not on the market is other land owned by Mrs. Talbot, the Orents, John R. and Olive Russell, and James J. Dekos and Mary Keenen, whose total property in the area Is 28,000. The land which is not for sale is mainly front property.
Opposition by property owners in the area has been voiced. In stating their willingness to sell part of their land to the town, the Conboys said that the transaction would be made on condition that property lines were fenced off, the lot remain unspoiled and the price agreeable.
