Mrs. Robertine Howe Rice, well known lecturer who has presented book reviews and thumbnail sketches to enthusiastic club audiences throughout New.England, will speak at the meeting of the Norwood Mothers Club to be held this afternoon at three o'clock at the Day House.
Mrs. Rice is a graduate of Bates College, where she majored in English Literature and Public Speaking. She has taught English at high schools in Massachusetts. Connecticut and New Hampshire, and in her book reviews presents accounts of books just published or about to be published, aiming at sharpening the appetite for reading rather than sating it. With her knowledge of literature, she evaluates the best in current books.
Mrs. Rice's thumbnail sketches give glimpses into the lives and experience of the authors. Her presentation of humorous books is remarkable, yet she stresses the serious element In non-fiction in such a way as to hold the attention of the audience from, the moment she begins her lecture.
The meeting this afternoon will be preceded by the regular business meeting, conducted by Mrs. Irene Peterson, club president.
