PRACTICAL NURSES GRADUATE — At an assembly held at the Norwood High School auditorium last Monday, the graduates of the Henry O. Peabody School of Practical Nursing were given their certificates. Practical Nurse Students Are Awarded Certificates
Members of the eighth class of Practical Nurse Students of the Henry O. Peabody School were awarded the school pin and graduation certificates at an assembly held last week at the Lincoln D. Lynch Auditorium. Formal graduation will be held in April when the next class will complete its educational program.
Dr. Philip O. Coakley, Superintendent of Schools, presented the letters of certification and Miss Eleanor Murphy, R.N., pinned the graduates.
Miss Carol Fuller represented her classmates in delivering the graduation address Miss Fuller also received the award for general excellence from Miss Grace Beverly of the Women's Community Committee. It was a distinct pleasure for Miss Beverly since Miss Fuller was formerly a pupil of hers at the Balch School.
Miss Mary McNabb received the award for progress in the clinical area from Mrs Margaret Doherty, president of the Practical Nursing Alumnae Association.
The graduating class presented the senior students with their new caps bearing a blue band signifying their advancement in the nursing program.
Mrs. Sally Kodzis, R.N., led the graduates in the recitation of the Nightingale Pledge concluding the graduation assembly.
Members of the graduating class include Miss Kathryn Barrett, Millis; Miss Carol Beaudette, Franklin; Miss Mary Ellen Coburn, East Walpole; Miss Carol Fuller, Norwood; Miss Charlotte Geyer, Millis; Miss Dianne Korejwa, Dedham; Miss Nancy Mason, Franklin; Miss Mary McNabb, Foxboro; Miss Janice Morse, North Easton; Miss Patricia Sears, Walpole, and Miss Beverly Wakefield, Millis.
Ten of the graduates will be employed at the Norwood Hospital and one at the Faulkner Hospital.
The alumnae now total seventy-two graduates. The majority are employed in hospitals but others are aiding the nursing shortage in nursing homes, physician's offices, home nursing, visiting nurse work and research.
