When most people think of underground systems they tend to think of the London underground, New York subway and the Paris metro - functional, rushed, stressful and somewhat grimy. They do the job but they are not generally places you would go to spend a relaxing afternoon.
On the other end of the spectrum is Stockholm's underground system, the Tunnelbana or T-bana. It is a 110km long art gallery with over 90 of the 100 stations featuring art by more than 150 artists. The newer stations have the rough rock vaults left behind by blasting left in their natural state and painted. Each station has a theme. And they are beautiful!
