The Norwood Liquor Dealer's Association has announced that starting September 16, the tile price of the draught beer will be raised from 10 cents to fifteen cents because of a boost of from 75 cents to $1 per half-barrel in the wholesale price of beer and ale effective September 1.
The decision was made after the board decided that It would be better to up the price, than to cut down the size of the glass. It was stated that the move was necessary because of the already small profit margin on a 10-cent glass of beer.
Of course the 15-cent beer will be a larger glass and in many instances, the patron will get more than his money's worth The present six or seven-ounce glass will be replaced by a hefty nine or 10-ounce glass.
Many dealers have already experimented with the 15-cent beer and have found that it was better for both owner and customer. Other bartenders report that the call for the 15-cent glass far outnumbers the call for the 10-cent glass.
One dealer said that the 15-cent beer was "the only salvation for establishments depending principally on beer and ale sales."
