These news items were the talk of the town on Thursday, September 1, 1955

The Labor Day week-end is in sight, which means summer vacation season is coming to an end, but of course some still have vacations set aside for the winter months.

Miss Shirley Stepanowich of Pleasant Street is planning to spend January vacation in good ole sunny Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Campisano and family vacationed at Onset for one week. A great time was had by the whole family.

Miss Mary Moylan vacationed at Rexhame Beach. Mary returned back to her duties at the Credit Union personnel office department of Birds, E. Walpole.
The Factory Mutual employees vacationed during the recent flood period.

The Gordon Ritchies, Norwood Jewelry, are vacationing with their family enjoying the sights traveling to different parts of Nova Scotia Canada.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartulis formerly of Norwood are now living in their new home, with their two small sons. In the vicinity of Los Angeles, California.

Jerry McCarty with the U. S. Merchant Marines is home on furlough with his parents Mr. and Mrs. James McCarty of 23 Fairview road. Jerry re-enlisted two years ago and is now serving with the U.S.S. Leyte.

Amos Dixon and William Counter of Birds' recently vacationed in New Hampshire.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Casey of New Hampshire were vacationing in Norwood recently with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bartulis. Mrs. Charles Casey is the former Beatrice Bartulis.

On August 28, a Christening party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mlllin of 101 Hill street for Ann Marie. Many relatives and friends attended from Norwood and surrounding towns.

Deputy Chief Harry Butler and firefighters of the Norwood Fire Department attended the Westwood Firemen's Annual Clambake last Sunday afternoon.

Incidentally, the Annual ball of the Norwood Firomen's Relief Association will be held on October 26, 1955 in the Norwood Junior High School Auditorium.

A/2c Frank J. Worster left Nor-Wood Tuesday for his new duty assignment at Lake Charles, La., following a 43 day furlough at home. Worster just returned from a two-year duty assignment in Alaska,. Week-end visitors on the Cape were the family of Dr. John O'Day and Mr. J. Moylan.

Mr. Joseph II. Frates of 323 Prospect street and his sons Jack and Tom are vacationing in Quebec and Montreal, Canada.

The Lithuanian Annual Field Day Picnic will be held at the Convent grounds, 261 Thatcher Street. Brockton, Mass., Labor Day, September 5th, 1955. The interesting program follows—Good food, games, music, singing, and dancing!!! Everybody Welcome! Bring the whole family and enjoy a one-day vacation.

Sara Martin and Phyllis Duquette of W. T. Grant Company, Norwood spent a week at Swift's Beach, Wareham with two companions, Patty Cutillo and Jean (Duquette) Menino.
